INTRODUCTION

The lightning strikes have caused major disruptions to sensitive equipment operation and considerable damage to building structures. Understanding of lightning phenomenon and proper design of lightning protection system are critical considerations for protection of lives, properties and equipment in the buildings.

OBJECTIVE
The aims of this course is to provide participants with an understanding of the effects of lightning and cover various analytical methods with the aid of software to optimise the design and performance assessment of lightning systems for the buildings.

Course Facilitator

Er. Chan Heng Lim is a registered Professional Engineer (Electrical) with 28 years of industry experience responsible for the design and projects management.  He currently serves as a Qualified Person (QP)  in an established consultancy company taking charge of electrical system design and audits check to ensure design meeting the code compliance. He carried out investigation on electrical equipment / components failure during and after the installation and provided recommendations to the problems. He is an Adjunct Lecturer in BCA Academic and SUSS. He is a certified Trainer with Advance Certificate in Training & Assessment (ACTA). He also holds a postgraduate certificate in Teaching in Higher Education.
